5-15-2017 - Review - FUSE - Renegade Game Studios

 I have read a lot of positive reviews for the game FUSE, and moreover people talked about using the free timer app. I am not opposed to app based things for board games but i had yet to find a game that integrated the app in such a way that it enhanced the game play. A dicey co-op huh? Well today i got to see if that streak would be broken.

Intruders have made their way onto your ship, and their goal is total destruction! More than twenty bombs have been detected onboard, and the countdown has begun. Your elite Bomb Defusal Team (BDT) has been called upon to neutralize the threat. Does your team have what it takes to work through the intricacies of the bombs and defuse them all in time?

FUSE is a real-time co-operative game that employs 25 dice and 65 cards. Each game is set to a ten-minute timer, and players must work together in that ten minutes to defuse all of the bombs. Each bomb is represented by a card which needs a certain combination of dice in order to defuse it. A player will draw a number of dice equal to the number of players out of a bag and roll them. Players must then decide who will get which dice, but each player must take one and only one.
It's a simple task: maximize the potential of your dice among all of the players. The problem is that you have only ten minutes, and there are more than twenty bombs on your ship. You don't have time to think through every option. You barely have time to yell at Grandma as she reaches for that red die you need. This game will self-destruct in ten minutes...

We set the deck out on training level figuring with the dozens upon dozens of games of other things under our belts this would be a piece of cake....10 Minutes Start.... Ok we get a couple of them done.....Ok this dice don't work......8 Minutes....... Ok now sweat we got this..........6 Minutes.... I don't think we got this.....5 Minutes.... GIMMIE THE BAG!.......2 minutes..... Were going to DIE!..... 1 Minute..... Were dead.....BOOM!


SOLO GAME #2

The big difference between game one and game two is i was able to just pick whatever i wanted and
all the communication was in my head. This completely changes the dynamic of the game. Without having to interact with other players I was able to beat the game training level.

"The first thing i will tell you is that if you do get this game download the app immediately if you can. The app makes a huge difference in my opinion. The communication gets tense which generally i do not like, but in a compacted 10 minute game it is really well done. Goals are easy to figure out in a solo play, but it is an interesting mechanic to share dice. I feel it is much better as a solo game as i feel it could suffer from "alpha gamer" syndrome. That being said, it's a very excellent filler game
