This is a blog about the board games my son Tyler and I play, and humorous stories when applicable. We will both give reviews from our perspectives. Spoiler alert: I mostly lose, no matter what the game is.

Review - The Game - IDW Games
Co-op games do not hit the table a ton in this house, however i have been wanting to play The Game since it cam out. It just so happens that Tyler was up for a co-op game so i immediately grabbed this game.
Players in The Game try to discard all 98 cards in the deck onto four discard piles in order to win, but they need to do so in the right ways. Each player starts with 6-8 cards in hand depending on the number of players, and four discard pile prompt cards are on the table: two showing "1" and an up arrow and two showing "100" and a down arrow. On a turn, a player must discard at least two cards from hand onto one or more discard piles, with cards on the 1 piles being placed in ascending order and cards on the 100 piles being placed in descending order. One tricky aspect to play is that you can play a card exactly 10 higher/lower than the top card of a discard pile even when you would normally have to play in a descending/ascending order, e.g., if a 100 discard pile is topped with an 87, you can play any card lower than 87 or you can play the 97. After a player finishes their turn, they refill their hand from the deck. During play, players cannot reveal exact numbers in their hands, but they can warn others not to play on certain discard piles or otherwise make play suggestions. Once the deck is emptied, players are required only to play at least one card on a turn. If you play all 98 cards, you win! If you get good, the rules suggest that you play at least three cards a turn to increase the challenge.
You Vs. 98 Cards, Only One Will Survive....Most Likely the Cards
Game 1
As i explain the game to him Tyler says "So this game is like solitary then?" I say "If you played it alone it would be solitary but i think what you meant to say was solitaire". As we deal the cards out and begin our game it because very obvious that were dead. we are in a super bad way and we are not even through a 3rd of the deck and we were out shortly after that.
Game 2
I felt going in to the second game (of the game) we were able to interact better. We said things like "don't play on that deck" and things of that nature. We were cruising along and i thought we had a chance. We got down to about 20 cards left and Ty was going strong but i started running out of cards to play. In the end we had 13 cards left which i felt was a pretty good showing.
Dad:
"This game is hard. I like the fact that you can play solo or together and it still has the same feel to it. It's hard make no mistake, and it did not help that after the review i bought the expansion The Game:On Fire, which makes it harder. I have yet to beat it solo with or without the expansion."
3/5
Tyler:
" I like the art and that it's a co-op but i wish there was more talking allowed during the game with your teammate."
