In a sea of kickstarters this one stood out to me. It called to me like a voice from beyond the grave. Maybe it was the art? or the dice? Maybe it's the fate cards (spoiler alert it's totally the fate cards).
In
Grim, players must compete against each other in a dice game of Grim's
own design in an attempt to save themselves from a GrimFATE in the
AfterRealm.
Players are given 10 tokens, strike counters, a scorecard, and 1 GrimFATE card to begin. The object of the game is to be rid of all your tokens, either by turning them into Grim, or giving them to your opponents. Players must roll three dice to earn the ability to turn in tokens, and may also choose to save them up for a chance at using "Grim's Hand" to pawn off tokens on their opponents. Once a player has been rid of all their tokens they must face Grim in a one-on-one duel to achieve victory. If they win, all other players are hauled off to the AfterRealm, and must read their GrimFATE cards aloud -- if they lose, they are given another 10 tokens by Grim and must continue to compete for victory.
The game is won when Grim has been defeated.
Grim is designed for 2 to 6 players and can be played in about 15 minutes.
Tyler quickly built up a lead and seemed to be on his way to victory. He go rid of all his token rather quickly and then began his duel with Grim himself. Being just a mere pawn of Grim i rolled for him and rolled a 6...meh, Ty's roll.. shortest review ever... A 1! HE ROLLED A ONE!!
From there it got way out of hand where i at one point had 22 tokens and Ty had 10.But i started chipping (horrific pun intended) away at my pile. And i win a duel, and another duel and after several rounds i have 5 tokens left and Ty has 6. Ty is back out to 8 and i get rid of my five GRIM DUEL TIME! GRIM rolls....11...yeah that's no good. I roll a 6....
