Review - Fluxx By Looney Labs

The Blurb

Fluxx is a card game in which the cards themselves determine the current rules of the game. By playing cards, you change numerous aspects of the game: how to draw cards, how to play cards, and even how to win.
At the start of the game, each player holds three cards and on a turn a player draws one card, then plays one card. By playing cards, you can put new rules into play that change numerous aspects of the game: how many cards to draw or play, how many cards you can hold in hand or keep on the table in front of you, and (most importantly) how to win the game. There are many editions, themed siblings, and promo cards available.

The Gist

Try to have the winning condition with the cards in front of you while everything in the game goes haywire.

The Play

In the first game, I was pretty close to getting my goal all set, but I needed the Moon card. I increased the draw to 5 and Tyler drew 5 on his turn and played the goal "10 cards in hand.  Tyler Wins!

In the second game, we went through the whole deck, with many near-wins. The second game ended when Tyler played the Silver Lining rule, which allows you to win with Creepers in front of you. Then he played "Exchange Keepers" and completed the goal that was on the table. Tyler wins again!

The Bits

Dad:

How could it not be radioactive potato? I mean seriously there is no other choice for me here. It's food, it's evil. That is two of my favorite things right there.

Ty:

My favorite keeper is  The cosmos. My favorite goal is dough

The Good, The Bad, The Rating

Dad:

We have owned many incarnations of fluxx. Zombie, Monty Python, Cthulhu, Pirate, Oz, The Board Game.... and we will probably try adventure time and batman at some point. The game is light hearted chaos and i like that about it. This game for me is at it's best when you don't go have to reshuffle the deck.

Tyler:

Fluxx is Fluxx, you know....Fluxx (This is an actual quote). I like that it is random. You never really know what's going to happen.
