Pandemic : Betrayal Edition

Before I started in the hobby about 3 years ago, my best friend always talked about Pandemic. It is by far his favorite game. One night, at a mutual friend's house, he brought it and we decided to give it a try.  After he explained the rules, I excused myself and went to the bathroom. When I came back, the board was set up and they asked me if I wanted to start the game. I was more than happy to do so, and played my turn out with little fanfare. Mike and Mike both played, and when it was my turn again, I drew the epidemic card.  Bummer!

Okay, well we went into all the phases and we still looked okay, as it was very early in the game. The other two players once again took their turns, and pretty much got everything under control, and it was time for me to take my third turn. After figuring out what my best plan of attack was, I cured a couple cubes, and then draw cards and pulled.... EPIDEMIC AGAIN! Uggggh!  They both looked at me with that look of "Good job, bro."

We increased, infected and intensified. The damage was much more severe this time, as we had only gone through a couple cards. The two of them did their best clearing cubes, but there were several outbreaks and we were falling behind fast. I was able to clear a couple cities that were close to outbreak, and when I grabbed the first card from the deck, it was EPIDEMIC,

EPIDEMIC! WHAT! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I was yelling at the card. ARE YOU FREAKIN' SERIOUS!?  As I gathered myself together, I looked up to to see Mike and Mike, dying of laughter.  It was then I realized I had been duped! Hoodwinked, if you will!  While I was in the bathroom, they stacked the deck so that I would get all the epidemic cards, one after another. A lot of stories at this point that I have heard end with "I never played that game again." That is not the case here. I have enjoyed many games of Pandemic since this has happened, but I have not forgotten and someday... I shall get my revenge!
