There he was, across the table... His eyes starring at me, then at the table... Then at me. And then, in a flash, the sheriff was face down, a bullet hit him in the shoulder.
This is just the narrative from a half of a turn in our game of Flick 'em Up! Mosey on in, pardner, and I'll tell you all 'bout it.
The cities in the West are not the safest place to be. In the disc-flicking game
Flick 'em Up!,
you can become an outlaw and rob banks, free prisoners, attack innocent
bystanders... or you could become the Sheriff and try to protect the
people of your city from these bandits!
Relive the great adventures of the West, face your enemies in street
duels, use different guns and tactics to get what you want. You can
follow the scenarios or create your own—the choice is yours, cowboy!
Tyler decided to be the Outlaws and I was the Lawmen. We played the first scenario. Right off the bat, I started firing at his guys since they were all pretty much together. Ty recognized this and started moving his guys and then shooting back. He managed to get one of his guys behind a cactus at the end of the first round.
Shots were exchanged in the second round, I took more hits than Ty, and I could not for the life of me hit the guy behind the cactus. In the third round, I lost my first lawmen (RIP James) and barely hit any of his outlaws. Tyler began to talk smack and said what I believe to be the quote of the year for the blog "I GOT CACTUS COVERAGE! IT'S BETTER THAN GEICO!"
Round four proved to be my last. Although I was able to take out one of his guys, he was able to take out not one but two lawmen from the comfort of his cactus coverage. And that sent me to
boot hill.
Dad:
"I really love the design of the buildings. I like the ability to go in and out of them for other scenarios."
Tyler:
"Cactus for protection."
*yes that's where he flicked to in one flick
Dad:
"I love this game. I love that it has scenarios. I love the dexterity aspect. I love pretty much everything about this game. I'm not sure how the new plastic version measures up but the wooden set is exceptional."
5/5
Tyler:
"Flicking the bullet to shoot is a great way to attack. This mechanic is way better than rolling dice for attack the way you do in most dungeon crawl games. This is now one of my top 2 games."
4.5/5
