It's Always Fun to Guess When You Play Guess....WU?

Last year, I stumbled across an article about a homemade game variant. The original game is known to all.  It's Guess Who? the venerable game of guessing faces that everyone, I'm sure, either played as a kid, or played with their kids. This, however was a version I was not expecting to find. This version is called Guess Wu?

My son loves video games. He plays Minecraft the most, but he has played many, many other games (more games than my wife would be enthusiastic about, I'm sure). I came across this odd video game-themed boardgame in a auction listing on BGG and decided to check it out, After reading up on it a little, I decided to locate a copy for myself, and now I've decided to bump it up on the review list!

Review - London After Midnight (2015) - Gen-X Games

The Blurb

Each player take a secret faction card, that will say if he is at the side of the "Heroes" or at the side of "Monsters". During the game, a player can either play a card from his hand or draw a new card. Each card will give you "black" points (if you are a Monster) or "white" points (if you are a Hero). Also, each card represents a character with a special skill that you can use in your favor. Dracula can control the forces of darkness. Van Helsing can destroy the undead. Frankenstein's monster can run havoc. Arsene Lupin can steal a card from another player. Jekyll and Hyde discard each other...

The game ends when the last card is drawn. Then, each player reveals his faction and count his points. There can be only one winner!

Pandemic : Betrayal Edition

Before I started in the hobby about 3 years ago, my best friend always talked about Pandemic. It is by far his favorite game. One night, at a mutual friend's house, he brought it and we decided to give it a try.  After he explained the rules, I excused myself and went to the bathroom. When I came back, the board was set up and they asked me if I wanted to start the game. I was more than happy to do so, and played my turn out with little fanfare. Mike and Mike both played, and when it was my turn again, I drew the epidemic card.  Bummer!

High Noon in Punchtown

When I was on vacation last month, I had a day where my wife was working and I had nothing going on. The kids didn't want to do anything, so I called Mike and asked him to come over and play games. The first game out of the gate was Cowboys: The Way of the Gun. Cowboys is a pretty straightforward western shootout. You can play cards to help you, or hinder you opponent (such as making their gun misfire, or making them slip and fall over), or you can shoot people.  ...Or, you can run away, ya yellowbelly!
